The lay of the land

What living in Southwest Orlando is really like

Southwest Orlando is the mature, leafy part of town where 1980s and 1990s-era planning means big oak canopies, green space, and golf-course views instead of wall-to-wall concrete. The MetroWest community, built around a Robert Trent Jones Sr. designed course, anchors the corridor with single-family homes, townhomes, and condos at price points that often sit well below what the same square footage costs in Dr. Phillips.

The area has a genuinely international mix of residents, strong schools, easy access to Turkey Lake Park and its trails, and a commute position that is hard to beat: Highway 408, the Florida Turnpike, and I-4 all meet close by. For buyers who want the west-Orlando lifestyle without paying the west-Orlando luxury premium, Southwest Orlando is one of the first places I tell clients to look.

Who it suits

Buyers who want more space for the money, commuters, and first-time buyers priced out of Dr. Phillips.

Known for

Turkey Lake Park, the MetroWest golf course, and a long-time zoned connection to Olympia High School.
