New Restaurants in Winter Garden and Windermere: What Just Opened

Efrain Reyes Efrain Reyes October 14, 2026 · 5 min read

Something worth knowing if you live in, or are thinking about moving to, the Winter Garden and Windermere area: the dining scene has grown a lot over the past year. Three new restaurants have opened recently, and each one adds something different to the neighborhood. Here is what is new, where it is, and why it is worth paying attention to if you are house hunting nearby.

Why new restaurants matter when you are house hunting

I have said this before, and it is worth repeating: restaurants are one of the most honest signals about a neighborhood. When owners are willing to invest in a space, staff it, and bet that people will keep coming back, it usually means the area is growing and the foot traffic is real. That is exactly what is happening in downtown Winter Garden and the surrounding area right now.

Harlow Grove Restaurant & Lounge

The newest big addition to downtown Winter Garden is Harlow Grove, which opened in March 2026 at 186 South Main Street, in the Smith & Main complex just off Plant Street. It is a two-story restaurant and lounge from the same local group behind AJ's Pizza Joint and The Whole Enchilada. There is brunch and dinner, an oak-tree shaded terrace, and a cocktail lounge upstairs. Hours run from 4 p.m. on weekdays and as early as 10 a.m. on weekends, so it works for a casual weeknight dinner or a Saturday afternoon.

For anyone who loves downtown Winter Garden, this is a meaningful addition. Plant Street has long had great daytime energy with the farmers market and the trail. Harlow Grove adds a proper evening option with a terrace, which is exactly the kind of thing that makes a downtown walkable in the evenings, not just on Saturday mornings.

Flatlands Bar & Grill at Flamingo Crossings

Out on the western edge of Winter Garden, Flatlands Bar & Grill opened in late September 2026 at 124 Ruby Red Place, in the Flamingo Crossings Town Center about ten minutes from Disney World. It comes from a longtime restaurant executive, and the menu leans on modern American and Florida-heritage cooking. It is positioned as an everyday place for families, birthdays, and anniversaries, open from 4 p.m. most days.

What stands out about Flatlands is how family-oriented it is. Flamingo Crossings is already a busy shopping and dining hub for the west side, and a sit-down spot that welcomes kids and groups fills a real gap. If you live in the Horizon West or western Winter Garden area, this is a convenient new option close to home.

Fresco Pizzeria in Windermere

Over in Windermere, Fresco Pizzeria opened in late 2025 at 527 Main Street. It is the second location from the family behind Fresco Cucina Italiana in Dr. Phillips, and it brings wood-fired pizza with 48-hour fermented dough and handmade pastas to Windermere's small downtown. It is casual and family-friendly, with grab-and-go options too.

Windermere's Main Street is small, and that is part of its charm. Adding a quality neighborhood pizzeria makes it easier to stay local for a weeknight dinner instead of driving into Dr. Phillips or downtown. For families in Windermere, that is a real convenience.

What this means for the area

Taken together, these three openings tell a consistent story. The west side of Central Florida is becoming more livable, with more reasons to stay close to home for a good meal. That matters whether you already live here or you are weighing a move to Winter Garden, Windermere, or the Horizon West area.

None of this is a reason to buy a house on its own. Restaurants come and go, and you should never choose a home based on a single new spot. But a growing, walkable dining scene is a good sign for a neighborhood's long-term health, and it is worth factoring into your decision alongside schools, commute, and price.

Here is what we can do next

If you are thinking about the Winter Garden, Windermere, or Horizon West area, let's look at the real numbers together: what has sold recently, how the school zones and commute actually play out for your family, and what your budget buys in today's market. And if you want, we can grab dinner at one of these new spots while we talk about it.

I'm here whenever you're ready. Talk to you soon.
